I was VI Director of the first festival, and did a lot of organization, delegation, management and such. This year we have a bigger staff, so I'm just setting the main VI and flagship theme / images, and implementing a system for community participation with the visual theme.

Beijing's best literary cafe, the Bookworm, was the site where a troupe of international poets (Subterranean, now DRIFTWORDS) held a weekly open mic night. The event was started by poet Bob Marcacci, and I took over as host when he left the country. We had many poets perform, including both famous award-winning writers and hobbyists. Languages included Putonghua (Mandarin Chinese), English, Italian, French, Tibetan, Russian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Gaelic, Latin, and many more. VERY multi-lingual, VERY much a melting pot. Lots of live, improvisational verse and translation, lots of group participation. Very fun :)
