Wounded Warrior in Transition
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
September 2010 – Present (1 year 6 months)
Assigned to the Warrior Transition Brigade to perform and attend hours of physical rehabilitation and doctors’ appointments daily in order to recover from injuries sustained during combat operations.
• Attends classes for certifications in computer sciences, including A+ and Security+ in preparation for transition out of military service.
• Demonstrates leadership by encouraging fellow recovering wounded warriors through hospital visits, especially after surgery, and other acts of support while managing own intense rehabilitation, physical training, and assorted appointments.
• Exceeded doctors’ expectations by walking on bi-lateral prosthetics ahead of schedule.
