Asma Hasan’s Summary

A well-respected author and lecturer, Asma Gull Hasan has established herself as a highly sought expert on the American Muslim community. Her two published books, “American Muslims: The New Generation” and “Why I Am a Muslim,” have been widely praised for offering a refreshing take on the often misguided stereotypes of Muslims. A magna cum laude graduate of Wellesley College and the prestigious Groton School, Asma Hasan also earned a Juris Doctorate from the New York University School of Law. In addition to her substantial writing work, Asma Hasan is currently employed as the Chief Legal Counsel and Senior Vice President of HealthTrio, LLC.

As an expert on the American Muslim community, Asma Hasan has been invited by the U.S. Department of State to give lectures concerning the practice of Islam in America all around the world. In addition, Asma Hasan has appeared on a number of national media outlets, including the Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor and Fox News Today, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and the History Channel. Asma Hasan has also contributed to The Pueblo Chieftain, The Denver Post, and The Pakistan Link newspapers as a columnist and has written numerous Op-Eds for The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Beliefnet.com.

Active in many literary circles, Asma Hasan is a professional book reviewer for Publishers Weekly and Saudi Aramco World Magazine, among others. Additionally, Asma Hasan is currently writing about the 2008 Presidential Election for Glamour Magazine’s election blog, Glamocracy.
