I lead a team of customer engagement professionals; we are responsible for implementing Boeing's new mobile line maintenance apps at our airline customers. My team and I engage our customers, build an implementation plan, guide them through mobile device readiness, build a training plan, provide training and execute a project go-live. Additionally, I am responsible for driving team vision, communication to upper management, developing the training strategy and materials, inter-team coordination and new employee training.

This position grew out of my prior work implementing web-based maintenance software at airlines. Here are a few of the skills I use to be successful: organizational leadership, mobile device and software knowledge, project management, program management best practices, process documentation, software development life cycles, tech writing, curriculum development, training material authoring, class education and more.

My primary responsibility was working with airline customers to develop and implement the Maintenance Performance Toolbox application and the associated business processes required to access maintenance data digitally.

I did this by building a project plan, developing training materials, performing instructor-led training, facilitating upgrades to airlines’ IT infrastructure, participating in multi-organization teams to adjust product capabilities and strategy, performing testing to ensure quality software is delivered, making technical recommendations for success as the customer list continues to grow and identify program risks and establish mitigation plans.

My main focus in this position was on manual build verification testing of daily builds for the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server team. I was responsible for start-to-finish build verification testing. That included creating, maintaining, and following specific guidelines to ensure that requested features of the product were addressed with tests. Because I dealt with setup and configuration issues daily, I also took on the responsibility of creating setup documents and guidelines, or created them at the request of others. A document I produced on configuring the product to use HTTPS/SSL was scheduled to be released with the product. Additionally, I am familiar with creating test cases, and writing testing scenarios for bugs that were found. Other duties included being asked to set up demo environments or ad hoc testing scenarios, maintaining lab equipment, server administration, and implementing an imaging solution.

    Watching the 787 land in Addis Ababa after completing its first revenue flight to Africa was a truly rewarding experience. After more than 3 years of hard work, late nights, early mornings and long days with my counterparts at the airline, all our hard work had paid off.

    Being part of the 787 Entry-Into-Service is an experience I will never forget. I have been challenged intellectually, professionally and personally in a way I never thought possible and I am a better person for it. Living in Africa for over two months, working daily with the airline has proven to me that I am no longer just an IT guy, but a well-rounded and willing individual.
