Learning to bridge the gap between HCI and more design aspects of design research, starting to lead and manage projects. exploring ways to use technology to simplify grunt work, and to find new ways of interacting with participants, telling stories, managing data, and creating deliverables. Learning how to build relationships with clients across projects. Specifically,
» Led and brought in projects worth $90,000 in fees, over a course of 3 months (including bringing in repeat business)
» Worked on a variety of projects in various capabilities, including writing proposals, managing recruiting, performing analysis, and creating final deliverables
» Influenced business process, including shifting SonicRim’s business development to be supported by Highrise, an online CRM system, introduced a new communication system for knowledge sharing (Yammer), and championed the use of an online webservice (Wufoo) to simplify and reduce costs for recruiting
» Influenced business strategy, including exploring new project models and proving them through successful projects, and designing new proposal formats and sales presentations that communicate SonicRim’s value and project outcomes better
» Designed analysis tools and corresponding processes for photo management and coding/analysis using software, resulting in time savings and reduced cost of data management
» Managed an internal online research tools initiative, helping plan and oversee development, and tie into SonicRim’s business strategy
» Designed and produced a new interactive format for reporting data
» Created new kinds of visual deliverables, and developed an information visualization tool for the same
» Shot and edited video as a research deliverable

Being in Bangalore, in the heart of India's science & IT world, I had the chance to meet & learn from some great minds who inspired me to pursue a love of creating knowledge as a career. The program itself was flexible enough that I had ample opportunities to explore my own interests, both within and outside of computer science.
