Art has 25 years experience with startups, including over 10 years in the New York City venture capital community.
Art is also the Founder of Tipping Point Partners, an incubator that builds and operates Internet startups. Tipping Point works with entrepreneurs with the domain expertise and relationships necessary for disruptive concepts to be adopted by leading companies in large markets. Tipping Point Partners process starts with a flexible strategy, product development, iterative startup operations, and permanent staffing built on the requirements of the business model. Tipping Point has helped launch companies in online games, mobile, fashion, music, social services, auctions and recipes in the U.S. and China.
Our current companies include Cookstr, a chef-based recipe search site; Mobile Commons, a mobile information services provider; and Casebook, an application designed to bridge people and medical, education and human services.
Art has worked as a founder or manager in many startups and has worked in investment banking and venture capital. Art's career started in architecture, where he worked for the celebrated architect I.M. Pei.
Art serves on the Board of the New York City Campaign Finance Board as an appointee of Mayor Bloomberg and is an advisor to the Catherine B. Reynolds Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship at New York University. Art's previous government and non-profit experience included Board roles at the Brooklyn Public Library and Safe Horizon and management roles at the NYS Urban Development Corporation and the NYC Corporation Counsel's Office.
Art received his MBA from New York University and his BA from Yale in women’s studies with an art history concentration. Art lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Allison Thrush, a private equity professional, and their two fun-loving boys.
