Tony has more than 25 years of combined experience at the international, national and local level in advocacy, policy, fundraising and development, managerial, and constituent/member services concerns of nonprofit organizations, NGOs, and trade associations.
He served as the Executive Director of the Hispanic National Bar Association, Vice President (Membership, Advocacy and Organizing) of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, Community Development Manager at the National Council of La Raza, and as the interim Chief Operating Officer of then newly formed Pennsylvania Association of Latino Organizations. In addition he founded and served as the first president of the U.S. Virgin Islands Latino Chamber of Commerce. He even served as a special assistant to the US House of Representatives Delegate (Congressman) from the U.S.Virgin Islands.
Furthermore, he also has substantial experience in litigation and administrative law, including appointment as an Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Virgin Islands, public interest (agricultural) labor attorney and governmental attorney-advisor. While working for the government Tony tried many cases, including tort, contract & procurement, medical malpractice, injunctions, labor and employment matters. He has served as a legal advisor and hearing officer at the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia.
For a brief period he served a detail as the Director of Labor Relations for the US Virgin Islands and legal counsel to the Commissioner of Labor. He was responsible for administering and enforcing local and federal labor and employment laws governing private employers and employees. In this capacity he served as the authorized representative between the Virgin Islands Department of Labor and the U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
