IT lawyer, blogger and patent attorney; partner at ICTRecht.nl legal services
Eindhoven Area, Netherlands
With my computer science, internet and legal knowledge I specialize in complex legal issues around IT and internet applications.
Before taking up my current position, I worked at Philips for nine years as patent attorney and IP counsel. I was responsible for IP contracts and licensing related to software, in particular open source software. I have written and deployed Philips-wide policies on open source usage and release of Philips software as open source. I served as the secretary of Philips’ Open Source Advisory Board.
I've published a large number of articles on the subject of law and technology on my website http://www.iusmentis.com/
I regularly give lectures on IP law and open source inside and outside Philips. In 2004 I was a part-time IP law teacher at the Renmin and Tsinghua universities in Beijing, China.
I'm a member of the Dutch patent bar and the European patent bar. Also I'm a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s Open Source Committee.
