Journalist, lecturer Groningen University, consultant, entrepreneur
Amsterdam Area, Netherlands
I work for Elsevier, NRC Handelsblad, Nu.nl, AD and quite a few other outlets. I also teach internet research skills, both incompany and at Leiden University. My first book on internet research was published in 2004. A fourth completely revised edition was published in 2008. Also, I wrote a book on digital crime, which was released in the second half of 2005. A second revised edition will be published in Q3 2008.
A small part of my time is spent on internet media projects, two of which are my own ventures, and others that are consultancy jobs for clients. I am also working on a book about cross-media journalism, which should be completed in 2009.
I started Isopeda, my company, in 2002 after having quit my job at Elsevier News Weekly to be able to make a seven month trip around the world. I have been offered various jobs since then, but prefer to remain self-employed, save for my teaching at Groningen University, since they don't work with contractors..
