Freelance Copywriter
Kansas City, Missouri Area
I’m AJ Vanderhorst, and Words w/ Verve (http://freelance-copywriting.arieljvan.com/) is my freelance copywriting business.
I grew up reading compulsively and writing numerous articles and stories (usually about ninjas, back in the day). Coached by my parents, who both taught English at Kansas University, I honed my writing, got stuff published, and eventually earned an English degree with an emphasis in Journalism.
Along the way I attended a summer institute with WORLD Magazine on scholarship and acted as Editor-in-Chief of my campus paper, managing 20+ employees.
When I enrolled in grad school, starting a freelance copywriting business was a no-brainer.
I currently live in Kansas City, Missouri, and have a decade of experience in commercial copywriting, blogging, and editing, with a proven ability to create clear, conversational prose–and I’m ready to put my skills and savvy in your corner.

I work to create advertising and marketing materials, such as print ads and television commercials. As you'd assume, my job as a copywriter is essentially to write the copy. In reality, however, there's cooperation with other creative personnel, typically a designer or art director.
My involvement ranges from consulting to concept generation to detailed copywriting. In addition to writing ads and commercials, I'm also willing to write brochures, website copy, sales letters, and other marketing support materials.
Ultimately, my goal is to generate personalized writing that communicates your vibe and moves your product--even if the product is you.
