Designer + Interactive Developer at Fathom Creative, Inc.
Washington D.C. Metro Area
I work as a designer and an interactive media developer for a medium-sized design firm in Washington, D.C. I continually strive to expand the depth and breadth of my expertise in experience design by familiarizing myself with emerging technologies including programming languages, content management systems, and multimedia software. After all, the day a designer stops being an impassioned student is the day a designer ceases to be effective.
Brand strategy (logo systems, color systems, standards guides, iconography), graphic systems (large documents, grids, visual languages), information graphics, front-end web design (XHTML, CSS, AJAX), back-end web development (MySQL, PHP), content management systems (phpBB, Joomla!, WordPress), and wayfinding (orientation psychology, signage systems, navigation behavior).
Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark, DreamWeaver, Flash, iMovie, and QuickTime Pro.

January 2003 — July 2006 (3 years 7 months)
During my time with Design Circle, I helped drive the development of a website, secure various spaces for our officers and students to use on campus, standardize the brand and voice, institute and organize several annual events, better integrate the student body with the faculty, and overhaul the government system to accomplish goals of longevity and growth. To aide in these efforts, I helped partner with the local IDSA chapter and encouraged shared resources throughout the local design community.
I served as a representative for my first six months under George Waite, then was elected co-president alongside Mindi Davis for a year, then acted as president for my final year while working with several other students to develop a more effective government system.
(Public Company; Insurance industry)
January 2006 — June 2006 (6 months)
This project was taken on as a freelance project to replace other course requirements. I and a team of two other classmates worked closely with Nationwide insurance to help them position themselves as a market leader in a specific consumer sector which had not yet been adequately approached by an insurance agency.
This 6-month project ran from initial market data gathering, through enriched persona devleopment, product mockups, and campaign proposals. We conducted a number of field interviews, user group sessions, and brainstorming meetings with representatives of Nationwide.
