Why I am Here on Linked In:
I’m here to offer my experience solving high-level business problems to companies that seek to create or respond to disruptive change in their marketplace.
What is required by such situations is real innovation. Discovering a truly innovative solution begins with asking the right questions. If we start by asking the right questions, we’ll get the right answers.
We're all business people. We all know the formula. Assemble your team. Set goals and objectives, analyze the alternatives, select a solution and implement it. It sounds right. It feels right. Yet for some reason it just doesn’t work.
It doesn’t work because what I have just described is a decision-making process, not a problem solving process. Decision-making implies that all the alternatives are known. But when you set out to impact the marketplace in a truly innovative way, how can you say you know what the alternatives are? How can you set goals and objectives when you haven’t considered how the rules of the game have changed?
Forget about goals and objectives. When the purpose is to innovate, goals and objectives become like a “You Are Here” dot on a very large, undefined map. What you need is to discover how the Business Truth for your company has changed. Then re-architect your business in alignment with that truth.
This is the essence of what I do. I call it Convergence Problem Solving, and I am an expert in facilitating this process. I have applied it across a wide range of industries including financial services, wireless, internet, entertainment, retail, health, construction, and freight.
In the course of my career I’ve played a variety of roles, including strategy consultant, project manager, product developer, team leader, marketing strategist, and researcher. In every instance, I have used Convergence Problem Solving to facilitate and forge innovative solutions. It is what’s unique about me and what defines everything I do.

I was chosen by QES to troubleshoot trading systems, expand the firm's quantitative global macro trading strategy suite to new markets, overhaul its institutional branding strategy, and direct all of its marketing activities. I also advised QES's financial advisor clients on portfolio structure across twenty investment platforms representing approximately $70M in client assets. Each month, I wrote commentaries covering the hedge fund and commodity trading sectors for MAR/Hedge magazine in New York.

One of the most challenging things I did in this position was to prevent the closure of one of the firm's funds by reverse-engineering a proprietary trading program after the CIO's sudden departure. My primary function was to provide all of the quantitative research and qualitative research for the three companies under The Bornhoft Group umbrella, with responsibility for alternative asset management consulting profitability. I also performed intensive due diligence on trading advisors for two multiple advisor, publicly managed futures funds with $700M in combined assets.

I was fortunate to have joined XOR at the beginning of its rise to a nationally recognized Internet consulting firm. Named to Inc. Magazine's list of the country's 500 fastest growing private companies, XOR quickly grew to revenues in excess of $50 million, and 500 employees nationwide.
XOR brought together some of the most gifted people with whom I have ever had the privilege of working. My contributions included developing a methodology for business strategy consulting within the e-business context and successfully leading the first such engagements with the support of a top-notch team of programmers, architects, designers, and marketers.
I was later selected to create a wireless service offering for XOR and develop a unique point-of-view for the firm in the marketplace. I led the first wireless strategy consulting engagement, developed the firm’s first wireless prototype, and quickly forged a partnership with Cingular that jump-started the business development effort.
