Professor of Philosophy / Director of Cognitive Science at the University of Evansville
Evansville, Indiana Area
My professional experience is outlined on my Professional Homepage. See link above.
It includes more than 18 years of undergraduate philosophy instruction and research in the foundations of ethics, the history of philosophy (particularly modern philosophy), phenomenology, the philosophy of cognitive science, and Internet search engine design for academic use. I am also interested in the intersections between philosophy and computing, particularly with what we can learn about human intelligence from the study of computers, networks and real neurological processes, ethical issues tied to computing technologies, and the impact of information technology more generally on our humanity.
I have been an active member in the International Association for Computing and Philosophy for more than a decade now, and have served as program planner for four of the organization's conferences and twice as the IACAP Executive Director. I am also the recipient of a 2008-2009 Digital Humanities Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
