Obtaining a Masters degree in Interactive Journalism at CUNY took me from being a cub reporter for print media into the vast and exciting new world of online news. There are so many new ways to tell stories--and so many ways bring new voices to the table.
My exposure to video storytelling, real-time streaming and crowd source reporting, both at school and with fantastic professionals at The Huffington Post and WNYC, has expanded my reporter's toolbox. Now as I look for stories, whether I'm in the Bronx, or roaming the city and beyond, I assess what platform will serve me best and reach the most interested audience.
I enjoy on-the-spot reporting and wish most to be out on assignment covering urban and social issues that affect public policy. Having the new online skills to shoot and file from the field simply allows me to do my job better and add layers to the stories I encounter.
