Technocrat with over 25 years of experience in the IT/Technology/Media sectors.
Known as “Father of the Indian Internet” - associated with the planning, design and implementation of the Indian Internet through ERNET (academic community) and several other key networks in India, such as OILCOMNET (oil industry), RBInet (banking sector) besides many corporate networks and distributed IT solutions for large corporates and core sector industries.
Have worked in premier research labs and organisations including Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and the National Centre for Software Technology (now called the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), Business India and Sony Entertainment Television.
Was involved in starting up Business India Information Technology Ltd. and with setting up aXcess®, one of the first value added networks in India, for the commercial sector in India.
Have been an independent technology and strategy consultant to several institutions including venture finance companies for mergers, acquisitions and tie-ups. Consulted for a number of organisations, especially in the oil, banking and media sectors, for their technology needs.
Have published and presented papers in several national and international conferences and seminars; and has also lectured extensively on technology strategy, regulatory issues and innovative technologies across the globe.
His last "job" was with Sony Entertainment Television (for almost nine years), as their Chief Technology Officer with a focus on New Media and Digital technologies and helped design and implement in-house a world-class ERP for the broadcast environment. Was also involved in building efficient media archival systems for mass storage and repurposing of digital content.
Is now working on setting up specialty infotainment future generation television channels with a broadband and online presence.
