Angus McDonald’s Summary

Since 1992 I have developed extensive experience in software development, specifically web application development and CMS, training management, CRM, rostering and payroll applications. I also have significant experience as project manager.

Currently in a technical leadership role that makes the most of my creative problem solving and facilitating skills, I manage development, sysadmin and helpdesk staff. As a two-time business owner, I bring a keen appreciation of finance, administration, sales and marketing to this work.

I am passionate about understanding people, particularly clients, and their problems. I love to help craft a solution, and regard the opportunity to guide Elcom's technical teams as a great honour.

I have an abiding interest in innovative business use of the Internet, particularly the use of Web 2.0 (or Enterprise 2.0) and social applications by business. I am a firm believer in the principals of Agile Development and particularly the ALT.NET philosophy. I admire the ease of development offered by Ruby on Rails and JavaScript frameworks such as Prototype and Dojo.

I maintain a personal blog in order to refine my thinking and converse with others about these subjects.
