Angie Wilcock’s Summary

Part-time journalist with Sun-Herald, writing about women's sport (under own by-line) and small business retailer for 3 years prior to teaching career. Working with children for more than 20 years as a classroom primary teacher prompted the decision to focus on student-related issues other than pure academic issues. Developed programs of information and support for students and parents on a range of issues including transition to high school, developing time management and organisational skills, understanding how we learn, effective work routines, developing positive attitude to school, balancing work and play etc.
As a former international athlete and twice 'First Female' of the City-To-Surf, I understand the value of motivation, commitment, self-discipline and goal-setting. These values are as important in an educuational setting as they are on a sporting field and they need to be encouraged and supported in our young.
My goal is to forge a stronger partnership in education between parents and students, students and teachers and parents and teachers - a 'triangle' of support and understanding can lead to improved educational and personal outcomes.
