Andy Fenton’s Summary

I am currently seeking a senior business IT role within commuting distance of North Herts (including London). This is likely to be IT Director or Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a SME or Head of ICT or similar for a corporate organisation.

I am an experienced board-level executive, having acted as IT Director with board responsibilities for several SMEs and as Head of ICT in organisations with 1,700+ employees. My key focus is the transformation of IT teams from passive back-office add-ons to fully-involved business partners, working with senior colleagues to maximise the IT opportunity and ROI. This has driven me to fundamentally reposition IT within some organisations so that it can drive the business strategy as well as being driven by it, creating and executing business transformation programmes, product development, and market innovation. Of course, this also includes the more traditional ‘lights on’ IT services that are rightly taken as read. My key skills are a strategic business focus, ability to run technology teams on commercial lines, ability to form productive relationships with senior colleagues, and my people skills, which undpin my collaborative management style.

I have managed all aspects of ICT for the last 10 years, including teams of 50+ in infrastructure, ITIL helpdesk/customer service, software development, business applications, database, and telephony. I have broad experience delivering business transformation projects, including as programme manager of ERP and CRM systems implementations in the pharmaceutical industry. My experience is underpinned by a first class IT degree, PRINCE2 Practitioner certification, strong ISO9000/TickIT and ITIL quality management (QMS) experience, and professional membership of the British Computing Society (MBCS). I have recent experience in the consultancy, e-recruitment, not-for-profit, retail, and pharmaceutical industries.
