I help nonprofits achieve their mission by organizing their fund-raising. My specialties are annual fund drives (including mail campaigns), database management, social media communications and planningspecial event production, patron and customer service, project management, grant-writing, donor communications and technical writing. I have extensive experience working with volunteers and professionals. I also have writing, editing and publishing experience and, as a former bassoonist with several symphony orchestras, an in-depth knowledge of the arts and education.
I began using internet tools for organizational communication and collaboration even before the World Wide Web, including editing one of the first email newsletters for orchestra musicians, "Das Lied von der Modem." I've continued that research in examining current social media and Web 2.0 tools, and have authored "The Job Seeker's Guide to Online Networking and Using LinkedIn." See Ordering Instructions below under EXPERIENCE.
Formerly a professional bassoonist, I have experience in symphonic music, chamber music, musicals, opera, jazz, and choir singing.
Non-degree training includes various classes at Louisiana State University in Shreveport (grammar, computer programming, math, technical writing, and fund-raising), seminars at the Tennessee Governor’s Conference for the Arts, the Classical Music Seminar in Eisenstadt, Austria, and many fundraising and negotiation workshops and seminars.
As part of my current volunteer work, I'm working on a paper, "The Frugal Job Hunter's Guide to Software," to help those out of work find the software tools they need, online and off without spending a bundle.
