Most recently, I've been working as a Web startupper. Like most people in a startup, I wear/have worn many hats. I'm a web engineer with an eclectic background - my areas of expertise include predictive mathematical and physical models, markup languages, visualization, and information systems for very large volumes of semi-structured data.
Equally, I've been instrumental in our public relations, business development and sales functions; I've acted as our primary lead generator, copywriter, media contact, voice on social media, and pitchman.
I initially trained as a materials physicist, and received a PhD for research into novel algorithms in atomistic simulation for the prediction of rare events. I received first-class honours in Mineral Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 2002, and submitted my PhD thesis in 2006, graduating in 2007. I worked as an active researcher between 2006 and 2008 in the Unilever Centre for Molecular Informatics, designing and building systems for processing enormous volumes of simulated materials structures and mapping out the future of scientific data management.
Public speaking, technical writing and copywriting, social media management.
