Neilpryde is the largest and best company in a niche market. They make high-end windsurfing products. This is where I cut my teeth on web technology and learned the basic principles of marketing and brand management. Even if it's a small industry, it always pays to work with the best.
Mandarin 2002 — 2003
Having lived in Asia almost my entire life, it was always slightly embarrassing that I had never picked up an Asian language. So, during the Asian economic crisis and with a desire to try my hand at something new I went to learn Mandarin in Beijing for 1 year. I loved it and ended up staying in China for 3 years.
BA (Hons) , Sociology , 1996 — 1999
When I went to University I wanted to explore subjects that I'd never studied before so I picked Sociology and Philosophy and had a blast studying them. Even if they are of no practical use, if you're going to do some exploring then university is a great place to start.
