Andrew Berger's Summary
I focus on intellectual property litigation protecting my clients against copyright and trademark infringement. I also help clients distribute, license and register their intellectual property, navigating them through the legal issues raised by the Internet and new technologies.
I have held leadership positions in a number of national IP organizations. I am the founding chair of the Intellectual Property Institute, a small group of trial lawyers who practice intellectual property in firms across North America. All the members in this group are also fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America, the trial lawyers honorary society. I have also served on the executive committee and as a Trustee of the Copyright Society of the USA. I have further been active in the American Bar Association having been the co-chair of the copyright committee of the Intellectual Property Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation. I have also been selected by my peers as a Super Lawyer in IP Litigation for a number of consecutive years.
I speak frequently about IP issues before trade groups and at continuing legal education programs and have been a frequent guest lecturer on copyright at Cornell Law School
I write an IP blog called IP In BRIEF at www.ipinbrief.com commenting on trends and transformations in copyright and trademark (that I invite you all to visit). I am also a Twitter user, sharing, engaging and learning about the ever changing IP landscape.
I have for the past 14 years been counsel at the New York firm of Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt. I graduated from Cornell University and its law school and am past president of the Cornell Law Association.
My litigation clients have included the Government of Ecuador, the Women's Professional Tennis Association, a Channel Islands investment fund and a 2010 Academy Award winner.
Specialties: Copyright, trademark and complex civil litigation matters and IP licensing of new technologies.
