I operate a facility in Heber City Utah where since 2002 I have been building environmentally friendly vehicles using primarily recycled/remanufactured parts and with diesel engines that traditionally have primarily run on high blends of biodiesel. In 2004 I built a modernized 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD station wagon that used the same tire size as a Hummer H2 that produced 1/4 of the greenhouse gas of a Toyota Prius. This vehicle also attracted considerable media coverage. I am currently building a second, upgraded version of this vehicle that I anticipate to have completed in 2010. In general I have a thorough understanding of internal combustion engine technologies and understand the different currently available fuels/options/technologies that can enhance them until new options are widely available.
In spring 2009 as a consultant I developed a comprehensive business plan for a biodiesel manufacturing plant with a long term outlook of biodiesel from algae. In fall/winter 2009 I developed a comprehensive overview of green transportation options for municipal diesel fleets that evaluated ease of transition and cost/benefit of everything from electric to hybrid to CNG to synthetic diesel to biofuels.

Biodiesel Advocacy Non Profit. Developed use of biodiesel from obscurity to 3 major distributors & over 25 retail locations, and use in dozens of fleets including Salt Lake City International Airport and every fleet vehicle in Park City including almost all municipal entities.
Biodiesel is a low emissions & renewable form of diesel fuel from plant/organic matter (triglycerides) that produces drastic emissions reductions in nearly all categories including approx 78% reduction in greenhouse gas and drastic reductions in city smog. It also escapes most criticisms associated with corn-based ethanol.
Biodiesel is an excellent method for diesel fleets or independent users looking to make an immediate noticeable first step. In 5-20% blends it is very easy to implement with few challenges and little additional cost.
