President of Aker Ink
Phoenix, Arizona Area
I founded Aker Ink in 2007, armed with an extensive background in public relations and multiple facets of journalism. My newsroom experience has provided an invaluable edge when working with reporters, and I leverage this savvy to secure prime placement in targeted media.
Before founding Aker Ink, I served as the public relations director for a PR and marketing agency in Phoenix. I led successful PR efforts at the local and national levels for B2B clients, garnering sought-after coverage in markets around the country. Prior to that, I was a writer and producer for KPHO-TV, Phoenix’s CBS affiliate, where I produced top-rated newscasts for the morning and noon shows. I have eight additional years of experience as a freelance reporter for newspapers and magazines throughout Arizona, including The Arizona Republic and the Arizona Daily Star.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Arizona and my Master's of Mass Communication at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, with specializations in online media and public relations. I graduated from my master's program with a 4.0-grade-average and was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the National Honor Society of Journalism and Mass Communication. The top 10 percent of graduates nationally are inducted into the organization.
I'm active in charitable and professional non-profits throughout the Valley. I currently sit on the board of directors for Arizona's Product Development and Management Association and serve as the vice president of marketing. I'm also the newsletter editor for the Arizona Book Publishing Association and active in the Public Relations Society of America and the speaker’s bureau for Planned Parenthood of Arizona. In addition, I'm a past member of the marketing committees for the Arizona chapter of the American Diabetes Association and the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center.
