The author of 115 books, I started teaching elementary school in 1977. I taught kindergarten ESL, first, fifth and sixth grades.
In 1995 I began working as a children's literature consultant. I've reviewed books, selected literature for textbook programs, edited manuscripts, and created website content.
After my children's books were published in 1997 I went back to the classroom as a visiting author. (Today I also visit schools via webcam!)
At the college level, I co-taught children's literature in the library school at the University of North Texas. Today I teach writing at Southern Methodist University, for Staff Development for Educators and online.
