Amit is an engineer turned marketer turned entrepreneur. He set up the Indian arm of a Silicon Valley tech startup in 2004. Since then, he has been involved in the complete life cycles of two cutting edge web products- one for the global consumer internet space, and the other for the enterprise online user research industry.
Amit is an instigator on the Indian tech startup scene. He writes a popular tech blog and is actively involved in organizing technology & innovation focused events in India. As somebody understands the Indian consumer internet space, he is frequently quoted in the online/print media and interviewed on television.
Previously he worked in the marketing/sales functions in the consumer goods industry.

Amit heads the Indian office of Uzanto (www.uzanto.com), a Silicon Valley based product startup. Uzanto has a strong background in user experience consulting & research firm and has launched two web products- SlideShare & MindCanvas.
MindCanvas (www.themindcanvas.com) - Launched in Nov'05, MindCanvas is a web based research solution for conducting online user research. It works as a mashup of online surveys & online games and is based on the principles of GEM (game like elicitation methods). It is used by web designers, GUI designers, interaction designers, information architects etc to collect design feedback from users while building web products & services.

Amit has been an instigator on the Indian tech startup scene. He played a lead role in kick-starting the cult of technology 'unconferences' called BarCamps (www.barcamp.org) by organising India & Asia's first such event in New Delhi in March'06. BarCamps have since gone on to become quite a rage; almost 15 such events have been organised across various Indian cities and they are perceived as a rallying force in stimulating grassroots level tech entrepreneurship in India. Amit is part of the organising team of Proto.in (www.proto.in), the biannual event that showcases innovative tech startups in India. As somebody who has a good understanding on the consumer internet space in India, Amit is frequently quoted in the print & online media and interviewed on national television. He has previously done podcasting for Podtech.net (a Silicon Valley based podcasting website) where he interviewed CEOs (and other movers & shakers) in the Indian internet industry.
