Ravel provides deep analytics tools that are capable of accurately discovering knowledge from databases, Hadoop, graph data, and sets of disconnected data. Ravel's core product, Golden Orb, provides graph-processing capabilities that enable companies to consume social network, machine network and other graph data sets on commodity hardware at significantly higher performance levels.

- Developed distributed algorithms using Hadoop for calculating metrics on online communities.
- Applied graph algorithms such as PageRank to discover influence of individual users within large social graphs.
- Provisioned and bootstrapped servers within EC2 to create development and production Hadoop environments.
- Automated the creation and the backing up of Hadoop and Cassandra clusters.
- Developed interdependent scheduling and synchronization process for various long running work flows utilizing Azkaban.
- Developed a distributed web app with load balancer to share derived data with clients through a web API.
- Worked with the product team to offer quality assurance of Ravel's core product, GoldenOrb, a computation framework which simplifies bulk synchronous parallel graph processing, modeled after Google’s Pregel
- Built web software using Google Web Toolkit and other open source technologies to let clients visualize and analyze time-series data.
- Built code generation patterns to develop non-trivial crawling agents for fortune 1000 company websites.

Born to a family of entrepreneurs, from a very young age, Amaan assisted his father in many day to day operations of Cliff Worldwide. At the age of 13 he developed an inventory management system for internal use in the garment manufacturing department of Cliff in India. In his high school years, Amaan partnered up with local cellphone wholesalers in the Houston area to move their catalog online in order to boost sales by reaching a wider audience.

In the Fall of 2006, he started his undergraduate work at The University of Texas at Austin where he pursued a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics along with the Texas Business Foundations Program at UT's top-rated McCombs School of Business. During his first semester at UT, he joined Delta Epsilon Psi, a South Asian interest social and service fraternity, where he held roles such as academic and technical chair. He also assisted in logistical planning for his fraternity's annual signature events such as Project Come Together and Sugar Free Bowl.

As a senior he undertook an undergraduate research project comparing various design patterns seen in conventional software engineering to those seen on emerging mobile platforms. He finished his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in the Fall of 2010 after which he did a brief stint as a freelancer for Austin area tech companies such as campus2careers.com and booksonboard.com to help automate the process of finding potential customers. He recently started working full time with a fantastic team of Scientists and Engineers at Ravel as a Software Engineer. His current focus is on programming for distributed systems to analyze big data using open source solutions.
