I'm formally educated as a Master of Science in Media and Knowledge Engineering. An interdisciplinary field taking liberally from electrical engineering, signal processing, statistics, data mining, human computer interaction, user studies, computer graphics and artificial intelligence. I graduated towards the HCI side in a field which today would be called ‘crowdsourcing’.
During my studies I became very interested in the internet as a phenomenon and I tried to learn as much as possible and meet as many people as possible who work in this field. After graduating I started a freelance practice doing allround web development and various related tasks: concept development, interaction design, prototyping, communication, consulting.
User centered problem solving has always been a great part of what I did both academically and professionally. So recently using the complex systems thinking taught to me during my studies and combining that with design sensibility, I am specializing in experience design with a hard technical knack.
interaction design, concepting, wireframing, user centered design, prototyping, programming, javascript, html, css, python, django

Starting up a group blog about the internet and startup scenes. It was fun while it lasted and we managed to get quite a bit of traffic and write some nice stuff there. After a while our other obligations started taking precedence, so eventually we laid Four Starters.com to rest.

My university Master of Science graduation project involved researching and building a platform for open customer interaction with a company (TOPdesk). This somewhat before the term crowdsourcing was coined and the hype around this phenomenon started.
It proved to be an interesting first step both for my faculty and the company and the resulting site (more a proof of concept than anything), got quite some use and attention.

Interesting side job where I worked on custom reporting functionality for customers in a web application. Learned most of my web development skills here in the golden days of IE6.

Quality Control at TOPdesk meant checking that the TOPdesk software package adhered to what users would expect it would do. This was a very interesting and challenging position in a rapidly growing and maturing organization. I as a student got my feet wet in a real world software development process and I could make vast contributions to the process due to my knowledge of software and users.
