Media & Outreach Coordinator, Program Coordinator
San Francisco Bay Area
Allyse is a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability, and her many activities and aspirations converge upon this central conviction.
Allyse has worked as a teacher, writer, editor and outreach coordinator for a variety of educational institutions and nonprofits. She has lived on three continents and across the United States, but has found an adopted homeland in San Francisco and now focuses her work specifically on the sustainability of the Bay Area. This includes activism and organizing around localization, peak oil, and local food.
Currently, Allyse splits her time between two nonprofit organizations -- Bay Localize and the Taproot Foundation. Eventually, she hopes to carry her interest in local sustainable agriculture into an advanced degree in agricultural ecology. Until then she satisfies her need for dirt at Alemany Farm in southeastern San Francisco, and in her own backyard.
