Alisha Levin dos Santos’s Summary
I am a skilled young communicator with an interest in working for a socially responsible organization. I expect to graduate from the University of South Florida in December 2008 with a B.A. in mass communications and a concentration in public relations.
During my time at USF, I sought opportunities outside the classroom to learn about public relations, marketing, government relations and fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
As an intern with institutional advocacy and government relations at Moffitt Cancer Center, I gained experience in legislative advocacy, coalition building, media relations, event planning and volunteer coordination. I worked to raise awareness for the grassroots advocacy program Speak Out for Moffitt and single-handedly launched Bulls for Moffitt, the USF student auxiliary to Speak Out.
After gaining valuable experience at Moffitt, I moved on to get my feet wet in fundraising and nonprofit development as a development intern at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo. I have a strong yearning to make a difference and hope to fulfill this desire in my career.
