Alastair Maggs’s Summary

I have experience in film editing (using Final Cut, Avid, Premiere and Vegas) and I'm currently editing my second and third feature film. I've also vast experience in web design and programming having worked on games add-ons, educational software and a number of web sites over the past few years. I'm currently working freelance, and I'm looking to take on some interesting projects. If I was to move to a full time position within a company, I'd be looking for a position that would allow me to work cross-media.

My current projects include two feature films, and also launching some mobile games for the Windows Mobile platform.

I'm also developing web sites, including three upcoming online stores, and two Flash portfolio sites.

Alastair Maggs’s Experience

  • Company Director

    Chaos Created

    (Media Production industry)

    November 2008Present (1 year 1 month)

Decided I should "go it alone" for a bit. Currently editing on two feature films, and continue to build up my web design/flash portfolio, and - along the way - I've gotten back into a bit of print advertising and company branding.

Chaos, in effect, has been running for some years now and has worked on developing software add-ons for the Creatures series of games (2001 and 2003), and countless web sites. I turned this into my full time career in November 2008.

As part of my work, I have been involved, recently, with editing two feature films as part of my partnership with Befour. These films are 5:13 and The Joshua Tapes, both scheduled for a 2010 release. I have also previously edited on S'kali.

  • Company Director/Film Editor

    Befour Films/Commercial

    (Computer Software industry)

    2005Present (4 years )

Our company has now helped to develop and provided all post production on three feature films, S'kali (2007), 5:13 (Coming 2010) and The Joshua Tapes (Coming 2010).

Befour also has a commercial arm providing video and film production for companies and events.

  • Actionscript Programmer

    Electronic Blackboard

    (Computer Software industry)

    December 2005October 2008 (2 years 11 months)

Responsible for creating educational software, under the i-board brand - for reception, year one, and year two pupils. This included the Online Club, a Maths project covering the entire maths curriculum for reception, year one, and year two, and many commissioned projects, including a Climate Control project for WMNet. As my time with the company went on, I also project led several projects including the London section of Big Day Out (http://bigdayout.iboard.co.uk).

  • Marketing and Event Management

    Holiday Retirement

    (Privately Held; Hospitality industry)

    February 2003December 2005 (2 years 11 months)

I was responsible for advertising and promotions for the UK buildings. I produced all marketing literature and designed adverts and brochures which were used for the Clevedon and Eastbourne facilities and are being used still as new buildings open. Also responsible for internal events/activities and special marketing events which included building community relationships and working with local charities. Also responsible for the web site for both The Hawthorns, Clevedon and The Hawthorns, Eastbourne.
