This fall will mark the beginning of my last year at the University of Oregon as I reach the end of my path to graduate from the Lundquist College of Business with a degree in Business Administration. I am focusing my education on marketing, advertising, and entrepreneurship.
My experiences have allowed me to apply my skills in a vast array of situations. As a result, I have gleaned valuable insights into event marketing, design, advertising, new ventures, sustainability, and project management.
Upon graduation, I hope to continue to work with entrepreneurial-minded people in an innovative creative consultancy.

I developed a marketing plan that focused my efforts on connecting specific brand traits with targeted audiences. My challenge everyday was to bring the Red Bull brand to life - be it through an egg-drop competition with a Red Bull twist, or 4,000 people campus rail jams.

When I started, the New Venture Championship was the premier international business plan competition. But it had no identity, and the client relationship was fractured. Leading a team of 6 and managing a budget of $32,000, we created an informed and integrated marketing communications plan that brought NVC to life.

The real meat of the experience was learning how product development and design philosophy drive brands. I also did your typical intern tasks: created industry and competitor reports, took meeting notes, performed image searches, and compiled trend databases. Each week I compiled a CE industry trend brief for current and potential clients.

I learned fast that the reason students were in the AMA was to gain experience. We needed to meet these needs. Two national awards later, the business school’s first experiential marketing group was born.

Although my position within Apple, Inc. was entry-level, it was my rank within the company that made the experience with branding and personal selling so remarkable. Before I was even allowed on the floor I had to complete an extensive brand training course that took two full 20 hour weeks to complete. At the end of it I was an Apple evangelist capable of connecting the brand in relevant ways to consumers.
