Reasonable Human Being
Sacramento, California Area
My first job is to be a good father and husband, and mostly this entails being a reasonable human being.
In order to accomplish this first job, I have to earn a living.
This leads to my day job. As far as that goes, my real specialty is solving business problems. To do this, I generally employ business process design and process reengineering techniques, with a strong focus on developing and delivering practical solutions. It happens that the solutions are usually rooted in project management philosophies and delivered hand in glove with technology systems.
I come from a business operations background, with emphasis in high tech, venture capital, biotech and most recently, State government. While I am a capable technologist from the perspective of your everyday business person, I'm not a technical engineer.
It's very important to ask questions, to learn from those who have gone before, to listen to what's being said, and to think deeply on the problem being examined.
Solutions have to be practical, grounded in reality and executable. Otherwise, they're just good ideas.
How can I help you?

Applying common sense and practicality to challenging business problems.

Starr Technologies was a highly customized networking services firm which focused on venture capitalists and funded startups.
My primary responsibility was to be the onsite consulting IT Manager for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Integral Capital Partners.
In that capacity, I directed all IT services, assisted many funded startup companies through incubation & critical initial-growth cycles, and ensured incubated companies launched with robust scalable IT infrastructure environments.
I was later responsible for leading Starr special projects and programs teams. This meant that I provided the technical escalation paths for problems, pre- and post-sales engineering for high-value clients, and project management for all integrations, installations and upgrades.
These were very sensitive, fast moving high-profile clients in a very competitive financial services environment. Work was demanding and the tolerance for error was close to zero.
