Alex Cureton-Griffiths’s Summary

I'm all about helping people connect. I started Shanghai Networking News (http://shanghainn.com) with the aim of helping people make valuable business contacts around Shanghai, and am looking to expand to other cities in China and around the world. We tell people what's on, what's worth going to and offer general networking know-how, especially helping westerners network with Chinese and vice-versa.

We also train people and companies in improving their networking skills through China Networker (http://www.chinanetworker.com) covering everything from building up your confidence to establishing lasting rapport to making the most of your network.

More background:

After living most of my life in England and New Zealand, I spent several years working around the Greater China region, including the Gobi Desert, Taipei, Inner Mongolia and Shanghai.

Before China Networker, I was an advertising salesman for the largest expat website in Shanghai (possibly in China), a corporate trainer and a product consultant for a corporate gift company.

Alex Cureton-Griffiths’s Experience

  • Co-founder

    QG

(Privately Held; 1-10 employees; Media Production industry)

    April 2008Present (4 months)

We produce short guidebooks for high-class affluent newcomers to Shanghai, for distribution through hotels and executive relocation companies. We're looking for advertisers who want to get their brand out there to our audience for our first print run. In particular, we're seeking high-class brands, both multinational and based in Shanghai, like luxury goods, bars, restaurants and spas.

  • Founder

    China Networker

(Privately Held; 1-10 employees; Media Production industry)

    June 2006Present (2 years 2 months)

China Networker is devoted to helping people network and connect throughout China. We currently run Shanghai Networking News, a popular website listing every networking event happening in Shanghai.

As the founder, I'm the one responsible for the running of the company and coming up with the idea behind it. Since we're a small company, that means I have to wear a lot of hats...

We're looking into new and innovative ways to get people in touch with each other and to monetize networking. Get in touch with me if you have any ideas about new ways to connect or improving existing methods.
