Before join Capgemini, Alejandro Soto worked at IDC Spain as Business Unit Manager. He was in charge of the two main business lines included in the Analysis area (research and consulting). His main duties were:

- Research and consulting projects development and supervision
- Spanish IT Market modelling and forecasting
- Speaker in external events for clients and IDC Conferences
In 2005, he worked as Analysis Director at Grupo Penteo, a Spanish IT analysis company focused on demand-side research. Two examples of projects during this period are:
- Danone, in Barcelona, where he helped the company formulate its IT sourcing strategy, develop the RFP, select potential providers, and sign contracts with the chosen vendor.
- ISDIN, in Madrid, where he facilitated the company in the selection of new ERP software.
Soto has also worked for Accenture's communications, media, and high-technology market unit. Key projects undertaken at Accenture include:
- Alestra/AT&T (Monterrey, Mexico): Implementation and maintenance of a CRM solution (Clarify, Vitria, and Kenan).
- Amena (Madrid): Design, implementation, and operation of the mobile services and applications for the enterprise market within the logistic and retail industries.
- RBA Editores (Barcelona): Outsourcing of the whole IT function.
Soto is currently studying a PhD in Marketing at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), where he also obtained a degree in Economics years before. After completing the university, he achieved an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE), and he also took part in an ebusiness program at the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI).
