Akili Lee is the Director of the Digital Youth Network (DYN), a research initiative of The University of Chicago's Center for Urban School Improvement. Supported through a generous grant from the MacArthur Foundation, DYN is focused on creating a framework combining after school programming, an ambitious in-school presence, and innovative online spaces to build youth new media literacy skills. The program is challenged with developing a curriculum and framework that can immediately scale.
Prior to joining Digital Youth, Akili served as the Associate Director for New Media and Technology for a sizeable Chicago not for profit. He worked to leverage IT and new media resources to support the organization's infrastructure as well as their marketing and communication goals. As the Director of the Digital Youth Program, Akili aims to support youth perspective and skill development that students similarly will be able to leverage for their own personal, academic, and professional advancement.
Akili received a B.A. in Computing and Information Systems from Northwestern University and is currently completing a M.S. in Business Information Technology at Depaul University.
