Aisha majored in journalism at Northern Illinois University where she worked as a reporter and editor for its award-winning campus newspaper, The Northern Star. Her college experiences include receiving several honors: two-time recipient of the Scripps League Journalism Scholarship, a recipient of the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association Scholarship, and recipient of the James Copley Foundation Journalism Scholarship. She was a member of the Northern Illinois University Honors Club and received a Northern Illinois University Institutional Tuition Waiver based on her academic performance, journalistic achievements, and contributions to the enhancement of the quality of life at the university.
