Alex has been a public relations and marketing professional for more than 14 years, working primarily in broadcasting, healthcare and higher educational sectors.
Alex's work in the media includes positions as an editor, journalist and host of a radio talk show in Oklahoma City. He also served as vice president of Kansas City Public Television. He left the television industry to create a communications division for EventPros, Inc., Kansas City's leading special events firm.
He ran for a seat in the Oklahoma State Legislature in 2002 and served as a lobbyist for social justice and private sector clients.
Alex has extensive media relations experience, including crisis communications. His first major experience with crisis communications was his work at the OU Health Sciences Center/Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma during the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Disaster in 1995. He has continued his work in media relations in the healthcare, educational, political and broadcasting fields.
As a leader in his profession, Alex has been a frequent speaker and trainer on the subject of media relations. He spoke at the 2008 KC Ad Club Career Day on the topic of special events and public relations. He has also made presentations to numerous business and civic groups including KC SmartPort, KC Online Community, the Greater KC Chamber of Commerce and the Kauffman Foundation.
In 2006 and 2007, Alex was master of ceremonies for the Arthritis Foundation Kansas City Chapter's "Art for Arthritis" event. In 2008 he volunteered as an on-air personality for KCUR radio.
Alex graduated the Kauffman Foundation FastTrac GrowthVenture entrepreneurial program in October 2008.
He was elected in 2008 to the Board of Directors of the Front Porch Alliance, a non-profit partnership in the urban center of Kansas City.
