After a professional experience in the music industry, at the beginning of the online exploitation of music, I concentrated on my research activities, as I was writing a PhD paper in copyright law (on contracts for the online exploitation of music) at the University of Paris (France). As a researcher, I took part to several research programs, participated to conferences, published in scientific reviews and tought at the University as a lecturer.
Music industry, research, and now NGOs and international lobbying... I am currently working for the TransAtlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) as an Intellectual Property Expert.
TACD is a forum of US and EU consumer organisations which develops and agrees joint consumer policy recommendations to the US government and European Union to promote the consumer interest in EU and US policy making.
My mission is to help TACD to build their policy in all IP issues where the interests of the large community of users, yours, mine consumers', are at stake (i.e. in almost every issue): downloading of protected content, DRMs, promotion of interoperability and of open standards, protection of privacy in the context of IP rights enforcement... but also patents and access to medicines.
In order to optimize my mission, which involves some "lobbying" activities, my position is located in the European capital, Brussels... where I'm spending a few months per year since I travel quite a lot, notably to work with my colleagues in Washington DC, but also to go to Geneva to take part to WIPO or WHO negotiations .
