After graduating from the University of Michigan, I worked at PASS Sports Network in Detroit (now Fox SportsNet Detroit), producing on-air promos for the creative services department and working as an Assistant Director for College Hockey, Red Wings, Tigers and Pistons games and studio productions.
Enjoying the technological capabilities of production (and just about the time of the combined baseball/hockey strikes), I moved further into technology by combining my love of road trips and maps by working for Silicon Valley's Etak, Inc (now owned by TeleAtlas), as a Field Digital Cartographer. Though based in the Detroit field office, there were plenty of travel opportunities with custom satellite-linked vans. This was pre-Google maps, so it didn't become big until a decade later. I also produced several video promotions for Etak corporate communications as well.
I moved further into web technologies in 1998 when I joined Compuware (also in Detroit) and hired into the Phoenix branch. I worked as a consultant for several years, primarily as a web and web application business analyst, focusing on the e-Learning space. I started at Cisco Systems in 2000 in their web application group for the Cisco Networking Academy, and later their Global Learning Network business unit. After a short stint as a Lead Systems Integrator at Phelps Dodge (copper) in Phoenix, I joined Cisco full time in their Customer Advocacy / TS Web group, on the Technology Strategy and Prototyping team.
Independently, I've worked for an LA-area startup (BeNetSafe.com), and started my own web design firm (Conrad + Flynn Design). Additionally, combining my love of sports, media, and the web, I'm the founder and executive editor of Hoopville Media Enterprises (hoopville.net), an online college basketball website since 2001.
