The Corporate Governance Council sets out the governance frameworks by which all companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange should operate. Organisations in other sectors draw on this group's work as best practice in governance. Worked with them from their first release of the Principles and Best Practice Recommendations through to the 2007 re-release with specific focus on pragmatic risk management guidelines which could be applied in all sectors and were harmonious with other jurisdictions and legislative requirements.

I was brought into Fairfax as a change agent to create an internal audit function which would drive significant change through the business.
During my time there initiated and drove nearly 1,000 business improvements from inception through to completion and post-audit, resulting in a far stronger and more profitable company today.
We also implemented an approach to enterprise risk management focused on identifying and managing strategic risk at the group and business unit level.

Based in the greater New York area, I was responsible globally for developing and codifying best practices to help KPMG move their internal audit practice from a compliance approach to a position as trusted advisors and providers of real strategic insight, risk advice and value.
This work helped them move from last of the big 5 to first in 3 years and roll this out to 43 countries. KPMG still uses most of these methodology, technology tools, knowledge bases and knowledge management systems today which continues to give them an edge on their competition some five years later.
