December 1999 — Present (10 years )
Since December 1999 I have been a freelance feature writer, web editor, production editor and author, working from my home office in France. My specialities include property, France, interiors, travel and lifestyle. I am also the author of the book Living in France, commissioned by Harriman House and published in March 2008.
My strengths
I am excellent at managing details and creating sophisticated processes that allow me to handle complex work processes. Once I have put a game plan in place, I implement it, and my decisions are based on facts and carefully reasoned. When working with other people, I am a good team player, fair and democratic and can always be counted on to deliver what I commit to.
Clients
Feature-writing clients include France magazine, Living Abroad, Everything France, Homes Away From Home, Period Living, Period House, Pipes & Tobaccos and recruitment website www.firstpersonglobal.com.
Production clients include General Dynamics, Computacenter, Lockheed Martin Signals, the British Heart Foundation (producing the schools information pack), the Committee on Standards in Public Life (editing the government White Paper), the Department of Trade and Industry, the Marie Stopes International website, BT and numerous others.
Web-editing clients. Between November 2004 and September 2006 I was editor of www.frenchentree.com, a website for people buying property or living in France. As editor, I was responsible for writing and commissioning a wide range of articles on subjects such as property, French taxes and mortgages, as well as lifestyle issues. I also produced a monthly property newsletter for subscribers. During June and July 2006, I helped to launch sister site www.spanishdream.com for the same company.
I am also former editor of www.firstrungnow.com, a website aimed at British first-time buyers, which I edited for a year.
I have a thorough knowledge of both the international and British property markets.
