Vice President, Travel & Tourism at McNeil Wilson Communications
Hawaiian Islands
I've been immersed in public relations for Hawaii’s travel and tourism industry the past decade and have worked on some of the state’s top destination marketing campaigns, while leading a team that has brought in several popular national TV shows, including Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and TOP CHEF.
As a vice president at McNeil Wilson Communications – a division of Anthology Marketing Group, Hawaii’s largest full-service integrated marketing company – I'm primary responsibility is managing the firm’s PR activities for the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, the state’s marketing agency for North America.
In nine-plus years at McNeil Wilson, I've developed a deep understanding about tourism – Hawaii’s #1 industry – having also serviced the PR needs of the Kauai Visitors Bureau, Marriott Resorts Hawaii, Prince Resorts Hawaii, and Ala Moana Hotel.
I'm actively involved in the workings of McNeil Wilson, exploring and implementing emerging media opportunities, coordinating professional staff development and growth opportunities, overseeing the firm’s internship program, and monitoring industry trends affecting Hawaii, business, marketing, communications, and tourism.
I'm also the 2010 president-elect of the Public Relations Society of America – Hawaii Chapter, having served on its Board of Directors the past four years as membership and sponsorship chair, and I've been an active member since 1999.
When I can I volunteer my time serving worthy causes. I'm the PR chair for the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii’s 2009 Celebration of Leadership and Achievement Dinner, an annual event honoring Japanese American business leaders throughout the state.
I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism/public relations in 1999. When I'm not working (which isn’t very often), I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing, reading, traveling, cooking, and exploring the social mediasphere.
