Marco Quarta, class '72, is Project Manager for the automated metro relevant to the new Line-5 of the City of Milano. It is a Project Finincing Initiative (PFI) promoted by AnsaldoBreda (AB) and other Partners, sponsored by the City of Milano and funded by State, Banks and the City itself. The Project include design, construction, operation and management of Line-5 for a period of 30 years.
Soon after attending Project Management Programme Mr. Quarta was encharged of projects with increasing responsibility in AB.
Before this assignment he had various appointments in AB:
√From 2006-2008 he was Head of Project Quality Management.
√Untill 2006 he led Mass Transit projects in the procurement dept. where he had begun his career as Project Manager in 2004.
√Prior to joining AB, from 2001-2003, he served as Head of Procurement Marketing Manager at Isotta Fraschini Motori S.p.A., an operative Company of FINCANTIERI Group.
√From 1999-2000 he worked in R&D at Ferrari Auto S.p.A.. His work gained industrial patents with the title: “Exhaust Gas Tailpipe For Internal Combustion Engines”.
In 2005 Mr.Quarta was awarded of the honour for top ranking of the 11th edition of the MBA in General Management “BeST”. The Master in Business Administration, accredited by ASFOR, is deserved by young graduates who have been working in FINMECCANICA Group operative Companies.
In 2000 Mr.Quarta graduated from Università degli Studi di Lecce with a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering specialising in Materials Science.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Engineer enroled in the Italian Association of Engineers of Lecce.
Project Manager qualified according to PMI's "PM-BOK" and "PM in Finmeccanica's way".
Auditor of Quality Management System, qualified according to UNI EN ISO 19011-03, who can make audits of 2nd and 3rd part according to the requirements of UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 and AS/EN9100 Standards.
PROJECT MGMNT: according to the 5 processes and 9 knowledege areas in PM-BOK and Life Cicle Management & Project Control drivers. Earned Value method (EVA), budgets, cash flow and timelines.
QUALITY: issue of quality plans. Use of system engineering, project and product configuration management tools.
SUPPLY-CHAIN: issue and negotiation of contracts for the supply of high-technology engineered systems.
MARKETING: strategies, business plans, benchmarking analysis, vendor list.
