Facilitating the process of strategy development, execution and Business/IT alignment -- defining the strengths/weaknesses of the organization and the enablers and barriers to success; developing the mission and desired outcomes; documenting the necessary initiatives to deliver value; creating an execution roadmap with milestones, KPIs, assigned owners and status
Changing how organizations operate -- assessing the current state and identifying gaps in performance; designing and implementing better decision-making, new and/or better processes as well as the best way to source those processes; redefining organizational functions, roles and responsibilities; determining how collaboration, mainly in the form of new Web 2.0 tools, can help to reduce costs without having to reduce staff.
Facilitating outsourcing initiatives -- identifying outcomes (why we want to outsource), scope (what can/should be outsourced) and communication plan (who will know what and when); managing the entire RFP process; working with numerous large/small, on/offshore Providers
Developing or refining an enterprise architecture capability -- broadening perspectives to include business, information and technology architectures as parts of a whole; investigating the current architecture and identifying the architecture community within an organization; placing decision-making accountability in the right places; determining the target architecture and the best way to drive convergence towards that target
Finally, that which I have enjoyed most about my work has been the thought-provoking interaction with my clients and colleagues and facing new and interesting challenges at every turn.
