Director at Capital Markets Group
Greater Denver Area
Call me a social capitalist. I put a lot of energy into insuring the health of the communities I belong to, because if they're not in good shape it's harder on all of us. What this translates into is that I work every day to improve the business ecology, and I'd like to think that I'm talented enough and well enough connected to make a difference. So if you're a 'Keystone' provider of infrastructure, or have a new product or service that you think creates new and sustainable efficiencies for a market, I'd love to talk to you.
As a Director for CMG I help companies with at least 5 yrs. of operating history and with more than $8M in revenue w/ management buy outs & M&A opportunities.
As a Huge Partner I help Colorado emerging growth companies access 'accelerant' funds and to improve their operations & marketplace development strategies.
As the EVP BizDev of the BusinessCatapult.com, I work to create new resources for the business development ecology that utilizes 'evidence based entrepreneurship'.

The Enterpreneurial Standards Forum (www.ES2F.org) was started in early 2005 as a part of the DaVinci Institute to serve as an open, non-profit, standards-making body that develops standards that help entrepreneurial ventures and investors to make better decisions. It was spun out as an independent non-profit entity in July 2005.
Current projects include:
* Building a directory of business plan templates available on the web.
* Building a database that can be used by startup companies to benchmark themselves.
* Developing tools for assessing entrepreneurial teams.
* Developing a standard that will allow business plans to be audited in the same way as financial statements (using GAPP or ISB) and quality systems (using ISO 9000).

"An Exiting Collaboration..."
The Angel Capital Summit (www.AngelCapitalSummit.org) happened in Denver, CO on Nov. 13th. The ACS is the first of this kind of event for reasons both collaborative and technological. Collaborative because of the number of organizations and individuals involved in pulling it together. (There were 39 Partners & Sponsors and over 40 people on the ACS Exec. Committee working with us in 4 US time zones and Europe.) Technological because we're using every 'Web 2.0' tool and new business process we can find or creat that brings new efficiencies to the capital formation process. The goal? To build a cheaper, better & faster capital formation process for entrepreneurs, and a cheaper, better & faster due diligence process for investors. So far, so good. We presented 40 GREAT organizations to over 400 hundred investors, other entrepreneurs hoping to learn more about the process.
So stay tuned! We'll be doing this again!

I didn't know how much fun college was until after I left...
Anyone that's seen me knows that I'm a jock. An old one, but a jock nonetheless. On my list of poorly kept secrets, it's not generally known that I'm a Science Fiction buff (I'll see you @ MileHiCon.org!) and that I write some. I'm also a big Karen & Keenan fan, them being my wife and my son. Between the two of them I've a pretty busy home life. Add my dysletic Wolfhound with too much self esteem and I've a fairly cool life. Other interests: Capital markets, venture capital, angel invesor, angel investing, venture capitalists, investment banking, investment banker, private equity, business development, entrepreneurialism, entrepreneur, entrepreneurs, sales, marketing, contract CEO, CEO, investing, basketball, football, hiking, mineseeker.com, mineseeker, speaking, public speaking, public speaker, motivational speaker.
I'm on the Board of Directors for the RockiesVentureClub.org, and I'm an on again, off again advisor to the DavinciInstitute.com, and IntegratedAlliances.com. I also play well with a number of other Associations locally & nationally.
These I generally run from. As a consultant I figure that if I get my name in the paper something went wrong. I'm all about making things work. As to who gets credit for them, I don't usually care.
I did, however, have a few 'moments' athleticly back when I still had knees. I'd be happy to tell you about them sometime...
