(1) 20+ years experiences in R&D in wireless, mobile, broadband, and personal communications and networking, especially in the fields of cognitive radio (CR) and cognitive networks (CN), Ultra-Wideband (UWB) systems and technologies, WPAN/WLAN/WMAN, wireless sensor networks, autonomic communications and self-organizing networks, consumer communications & smart home networking, software-defined radio (SDR), wireless fading channel modelling and Wireless 1394 systems.

(2) Standardization advocator, organizer and contributor in IEEE 802.15 WPAN Task Group (TG4a, former TG3a, http://www.ieee802.org/15/pub/TG3a_CFP.html).

(3) Founding member of UWB Forum and principle author of DS-UWB specifications in IEEE 802.15 WPAN standardization, for which he initiated the "Soft-Spectrum Adaptation (SSA)" technique and contributed to its worldwide developments.

(4) International research projects leader, especially within the European IST(Information Society Technologies) Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) - EUWB, PULSERS 2, etc.

(5) Leadership in the Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks (TCCN) of IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) as well as a number of international academic conferences (e.g., CrownCom 2006-2009, ChinaCom 2007, and IEEE ISCIT 2006-2009).

    From October 1999 to March 2002, Dr. Honggang Zhang was with the Shin-Kawasaki Research Center, Telecommunications Advancement Organization (TAO) of Japan, as a TAO Research Fellow. From April 2002 to November 2002, he joined the TOYOTA IT Center. From December 2002 to August 2004, he has been with the UWB Research Consortium, Communications Research Laboratory (CRL) and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) of Japan. He was the principle author and contributor for proposing DS-UWB in IEEE 802.15 WPAN standardization task group, for which he initiated the "Soft-Spectrum Adaptation (SSA)" technique and contributed to its worldwide developments. From September 2004 to February 2008, he has been with CREATE-NET, where he leaded its wireless teams in exploring Cognitive Radio (CR) and its integration with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies while participated a number of European FP6/FP7 projects.
