Thomas D. Helmholdt concentrates his practice on patent/trademark prosecution, patent searches, validity studies, infringement opinions, and freedom to operate studies. His focus is on mechanical and electrical technologies, including automobiles and medical devices.

Mr. Helmholdt is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as an engineer in Michigan performing consulting services dealing with municipal projects, electric power production facilities, wastewater treatment equipment, and pump stations. He also worked as a plant engineer for a major petrochemical company in Texas.
