Doug is an experienced executive who has spent the last 14 years running a successful consulting/coaching practice and prior to that 16 years as President of his own residential and commercial development company with annual sales of $50 million.
In 1994 Doug acquired the first Renaissance Executive Forums franchise and shortly after became a Master Certified Coach. He is co-owner of Renaissance Executive Forums Orange County along with Ric Franzi. REF is an organization for CEOs and business owners who meet monthly to work on common management problems and strategic planning issues. In addition to acting as facilitator and trainer for the monthly meetings, Doug provides executive coaching to individual members on a one-on-one basis. Doug has coached CEOs and presidents along with many of their key personnel on issues ranging from strategic planning, management transition, sale of the business, start-up of new operations, and hiring and training of key personnel. His clients include manufacturing, service and sales companies, and range in size from start-ups to mid-sized companies. He has served on their management teams and held interim executive positions.
Doug was founder and President of Gfeller Development Company, a residential and commercial development company from 1977 to 1993. Specializing in in-fill sites, GDC constructed over 1,000 homes in Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside Counties in the medium to luxury price range.
Doug was a member of the senior management team of The Irvine Company from 1970 to 1977, starting in finance and moving into operations as the Vice President of all residential development.
Doug currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Compensation Committee of Storm Industries, Inc. a family held company. Storm manufactures and distributes worldwide, irrigation values and diesel engine parts. They are also active in commercial, industrial and residential development in Southern California.
