Diana Soeiro’s Summary

My PhD focuses on strengthening an existing relation between Goethe's Theory of Colours and Architecture.

In order to do that strong emphasis is given to Space and Body. Both start being considered from a pure physical point of view but the point is that a “pure physical point of view” does not exist. And Medicine is a science that not only acknowledges this in its principles but daily, tries to overcome that.

The orientation method is therefore, dominantly, that of Phenomenology engaged in a dialog with cognitive science.

Main references are J.W. Goethe, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger, Gilles Deleuze, Christian Norberg-Schulz, Frank Lloyd Wright and Tadao Ando.

In order to sustain this intense relation between Theory of Colours and Architecture a serious reflection is made on Health Care Architecture as an extreme example where Colour, Architecture, Space and Body meet.

I currently work on my PhD research titled: "Colour as shelter: architecture as care".
